BRT Lessons From Latin America
CST-India leads Indian delegation on study tour of bus rapid transit systems in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

The Centre for Sustainable Transport India led a delegation of 30 transportation officials from India on a study tour of bus rapid transit systems in Latin America from Oct. 25 to Nov. 11 in collaboration with India's Urban Mass Transit Co. Ltd. The tour, sponsored in part by the Sustainable Urban Mobility in Asia program and endorsed by the Government of India's Ministry of Urban Development, included visits to Mexico, Colombia and Brazil. Participants observed the following BRT systems: Metrobus in Mexico City; Optibus in León; Megabus in Pereira; TransMilenio in Bogotá; SPTrans in São Paulo; and RIT in Curitiba.

The Indian delegation recounted their experiences at the 4th annual International Sustainable Transport Congress held from Oct. 27-29 in Mexico City.
