
In 2006, CST - India participated and played an influential role in the launch of the Ministry of Urban Developmentās National Urban Transport Policy which stressed the mobility of people rather than vehicles. The policy sets the guidelines for cities that want to receive money under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, a national multi billion dollar fund for bus rapid transit and other sustainable urban transport projects. CST - India has been very involved with a number of JnNURM mission cities, including Indore.
In 2009, the city of Indore secured a bid for 175 new buses under the JnNURM Bus Procurement Fund. CST - India supported the ICTSL's efforts in securing this bid and in preparing the DPR for the same.
In 2009, CST - India and EMBARQ Network's Senior Transport Engineer, Dario Hidalgo was invited by the Centre for Science and Environment to review the current BRT corridor in Delhi as well as to provide recommendations to the local authorities on the best way to enhance current operations and incorporate best practices in the proposed expansions. Modifications of the existing operations are expected during 2009 and expansions are expected to be completed in 2010.
